Medical Diagnostic Equipment
Medical diagnostic equipment makes it possible for healthcare professionals to identify any microorganisms causing infectious diseases and prescribe appropriate treatments. There are many different types of diagnostics tests, one of the most common being vital sign tests (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and body temperature).
It’s important for medical professionals and first responders to have the proper diagnostic equipment readily available. Otherwise, an infected patient could go undiagnosed and unknowingly transmit a disease to someone else.
Types of Diagnostic Equipment
There are many types of diagnostic equipment used for a variety of testing. To meet the demanding needs of medical professionals and first responders, Galls carries a wide selection of medical diagnostic equipment including stethoscopes, thermometers, blood pressure kits, pulse oximeters and more.
Stethoscope: The stethoscope allows medical professionals to listen for sounds produced by the body including the heart, lungs, intestines and blood flow of the arteries and veins.
The Littmann Lightweight II SE Stethoscope is highly popular among entry-level EMTs, firefighters and first responders. This Littmann stethoscope features patented 3M soft-sealing ear tips for exceptional comfort and an ambient noise-reducing seal.
Thermometer: Thermometers are used to measure the body’s internal temperature. This is especially useful when checking for hypothermia or any deviations in body temperature (if it’s checked multiple times). Thermometers are most commonly used under the tongue, under the armpit and eardrum.
For a fast and accurate reading, the American Diagnostics Corp Adtemp Thermometer comes highly recommended. This digital thermometer takes 8 seconds to measure and beeps when completed. It also has a range of 90°F to 100°F and keeps a memory of your last reading.
Sphygmomanometer: The sphygmomanometer is used to check blood pressure and any abnormalities. This most often consists of a blood pressure cuff, BP stethoscope and a gauge.
The Dyna Med Color Coordinated BP Stethoscope is a combination kit that features a Sprague stethoscope and nylon bag. This blood pressure kit includes a no-pin stop manometer with black numerals, a nickel-plated deflation valve and an interchangeable chest piece drum.
Pulse Oximeter: A Pulse oximetry test is used to measure a patient’s blood oxygen level and check for how well the heart is pumping oxygen to your body. A clip-like device is placed on the body, typically the finger.
The Dynarex Finger Pulse Oximeter is a perfect non-invasive way to check for oxygen saturation. This finger pulse oximeter features a light compact design and accurately calculates oxygen in a patient’s blood and monitors the saturation of hemoglobin. This oximeter is also convenient for detecting hypoxia.
Additional Medical Equipment
In addition to diagnostic equipment, Galls also carries a vast selection of medical equipment as well. From personal protective equipment to oxygen supplies, we have what every first responder needs to treat their patients.
The Safetec Personal Protection Kit is vital to have in the presence of bodily fluids. This infection control kit includes disposable gloves, a face mask, disinfectant wipes and a biohazard bag. This kit also meets CDC and OSHA standards for bloodborne pathogens.
Comprised with the essentials for advanced lifesaving, the Dyna Med Trauma/02 ALS Kit helps safely administer oxygen on scene for the critically wounded. This trauma kit is color-coordinated to keep supplies organized and includes an O2 compartment for easy access to supplies. This medical kit also provides reflective striping on the sides for visibility and a waterproof bottom.
