When you step into these boots, you’ll think you just laced up your favorite running shoes. The cement construction is styled similar to athletic footwear, giving you the lightweight flexibility that you enjoy in a running shoe but with the toughness of a tactical boot. Bates doesn’t stop here with the benefits but gets to the sole of the matter with GORE-TEX® technology, a unique blend of the most durable, breathable, waterproof and windproof materials available. Built to withstand the elements, these boots guarantee a dry, fresh and comfortable fit for wherever adventure takes you.
Pros: comfortable after they are broken in. Durable construction, good support, good traction, breath well. Cons: takes forever (2 months) to break in uppers, no longer waterproof after less than a year, soles wear quickly.
Only had these boots 5 months when the top seam above the Bates Logo at the heal ripped open on both boots. After e-mail's / phone calls / & a letter, Bates sends me a pair of the New Delta 8's ,as I requested to replace them. Upon opening the box of the new ones I noticed that it looks like they sent me a New (Left Boot) & a Recycled (Right Boot) as it had numerous wear marks on the upper & side surface & the right one has a polished shine while the left one has the normal new flat look. After trying them on, New Boot feel on Left Foot , Used Boot feel on Right Foot?? After the money I spent for the GX 8', this is not over by no means!!
These boots have been the most comfortable boots I have had. They've lasted me 2.5 years before they were wearing out to the point of replacement with as much as I wear them (Well over 48 hours a week). They still remain water proof but tread on bottom is wearing down and I have destroyed the toe kicking up the rear step of the ambo with them. Would definitely order them again.
I owned a pair of bates before that were amazing, the EO2210. After the 2210 were discontinued, I ordered the EO2272 thinking they would be the same boot. boy I was wrong, the 2272 are much narrower than my previous boot even with the extra width, so if anyone is looking for a good boot with the wide width, bates has failed with this style. although the boots are comfortable and perform well in keeping me dry, my feet beg for me to release them after a 12 hour shift. wish I could find another pair of 2210, they were so much more comfortable and I was able to wear them all day long.
I have owned more than a dozen pair of bates over the years. I have just ordered my 4th pair of these exact boots. I work fulltime in EMS & have been a firefighter for 19 yrs. Break in time is 1 day max. Its like wearing sneakers with the protection of a tank, they keep your feet dry & traction is unbelievable. I have never had a problem with these or any bates lasting less than a yr. Yes the safety toe can be an issue but I have learned if you don't have fat feet go up a 1/2 size & they seem to fit just fine. Theboot is slightly wider & longer, just enough to make up the difference for the safety toe, Only issue I have with these is due to the gortex once the inside gets wet the stink never comes completely out.
I ordered these boots about 2 years ago but never wore them until last month. I always have at least 3 pairs of boots for different events I work.
These were perfect because of the waterproof and composite toe. But not lined with insulation to allow me to wear in the hot humid weather we have down south.
I have been wearing them daily at work to get use to them before Mardi Gras comes in 2014. First night I had them on was Halloween 2013.(Rainy night and they kept my feet dry).
It is now 11/21/13, and they are already ripped.
Seams along the upper leather part where the holes for the laces are. It is about 1/2" sized now, but it is right where they bend, so I think it will get bigger.
I will say they are super comfortable but was just a waste of money to have boots last less then 1 month.
I have had a pair of these boots now for 4 years. I love them. I work EMS and do odd jobs on the side as well, so I wear these boots a lot. Nearly everyday in fact. The outside of the boots is worn but the boots are still waterproof after all this time. The treads are worn out so it is time to retire my current boots. However, I will be buying a new pair of these same boots. I recommend these boots to anyone looking for a high quality, waterproof, and comfortable duty boot that has a composite toe.
Had these boots just over a year now they been threw a lot of terrain since I am on a harvest crew in Kansas. They performed pretty well.
