We know that wildland fire fighting is not always a full-time occupation. Many of you are deeply involved in forest management by way of federal, state or local agencies, working as rangers, managers, wildlife biologists and other related occupations. And those of you who are year-round superintendents, captains, equipment and cache managers never go off the clock.
Some of you work at other jobs and professions until the need arises. Wildland fire fighters come from a variety of professions and backgrounds. Lawyers work beside telephone linemen, janitors toil next to college professors and sanitation workers find themselves partnered with accountants.
