Danner 8 inch Striker Torrent Waterproof Duty Boot features:
I have worn Striker boots for years on patrol and liked them very much. This new Torrent design is much narrower than the old. I have always worn a EE. These are not the same EE width. The next size up will be too big. Danner should go back to their old sizing. Quality of the boot appears to still be good though and I have no problem there.
I work for a Sheriff's office and have worn these boots for a year in a very rural environment. Mud, dirt, wet conditions. They have held up great and are very dry and comfortable. However, if you have a wide foot, order them in extra wide size. Also wish I would have bought the side zipper option. laces can be a pain to take on and off. Over all good boot
I loved the Striker 2 boots of the past. They were comfortable, properly sized and were well built. This model though, is sized way too narrow. Their EE boot is more like a narrow D. Luckily, Galls is a good company to work with and they sent a pick-up shipping label and I sent the boots back. Don't buy these boots if your foot is wider then a narrow D. Too bad Danner doesn't fix this problem. They have good boots.
I wore this boot sparingly for 6 months in mild weather. The stitching fell apart on one boot in the Achilles area, and the sole at the toe is separating...ridiculous quality for a $200 boot. And I don't recommend the non-zipper version...the laces aren't designed for easy on-off. The good: they are comfortable and waterproof. Bottom line: Stick with the Acadia...I get 10yrs out of them.
