Bates Men's DuraShocks 8" Zipper Boots feature:
I bought these boots and got maybe a year out of them before the sole spilt in two I work in corrections and they did not hold up as long as I wanted them too for the price of them
Was able to get about a year out of these boots, not worn out but falling apart! 3 Seams have came apart, still very comfortable and soles held up great to walking 10-15 miles a day on the prison yard in all weather conditions, everything from -20 temps, torrential down pours and 100* temps in the summer
I have bought three pairs of these and have totally worn them out. They last very well for the money and are very comfortable with a very short break in period
I initially liked the boots very much although after about one year, the sole cracked and actually split. I work in southern AZ and deal with extreme heat so I don't know that that compromised the sole. I am forced to buy a new pair of boots and will not buy these again.
Great pair of work boots. I've owned a pair of these for about five years. I've worn them for ems, security and law enforcement. I have tried several other brands over the years but these boots are by far the best. I work 12 hour shifts and have only had to add insoles after wearing the boots after 3 years. I would strongly recommend these boots for law enforcement or ems. Great professional look and comfortable as far as work boots go.
This is a good all around boot. I have had them over a year and work as a correctional officer. They have high quality leather and and don't wear fast. Compared two my last two pair of Bate's. I have owned them for over a year with Polishing them daily they still look brand new.
Only one thing I dislike about this boot. They are not a breathable boot as the ultra lights and other styles. These are strictly winter boots. Your feet will fry in the Summer.
I've had these boots for almost two weeks, and I am not impressed. I've worn Magnums, Under armor, 511 and Rockys. These boots after two 12 hour patrol shifts my accelies tendons were sore and red. Had to go home and grab another pair of boots to wear. Will not be buying another pair!
The boots are great. They're comfortable, reasonably light weight, holds a great shine, the flex points at the back and sides of the boot doesn't pinch into my achilles tendon or ankles, and they're fairly breathable. My one complaint is the diagonal butt stitching just forward of the base of the zipper has partially separated after less than just two months.
4 years in the Navy (working on the flight line and flight deck), 4 years Army Reserve (Infantry), 8 years Law Enforcement. Of all the boots I have ever owned these are the most comfortable. I would buy these boots over and over again.
I am wearing my third pair of these. The first two were great and lasted 2+ years. I have had these for three months and the inside lining is already wearing through.
I am in them 10+ hours a day at school on concrete floors. I am not sure what I am going to do about them.
I have over 5 pair of these shoes. The first pair was so comfortable, I bought another. Then another. My 4th pair didn't seem to last very long. I ordered a 5th due to my history with the durashocks. They were flat and uncomfortable from the start. I am done with them.
I loved these boots out of the box. They wore comfortably for several months of use. The comfort level of the boots has diminished somewhat in the last little while (I have had the boots for approximately 6 months). My biggest complaint with the boots is the seam on the inside of each foot. After only 6 months of work, the seams have begun to split, and they are no longer water resistant. I work 7 twelve hour shifts every two weeks, and spend a fair amount of time on my feet, but not enough that they should be worn out in 6 months. Thanks but no thanks to the BATES!
I have had these boots for 18 months and they are still great boots. They are remarkably comfortable (I have worn them for multiple 60+ hour weeks), the tread wear is really acceptable, and they have very few outward signs of wear. I have two comments - they come a little larger than expected (I wear size 9.5 usually, but I need a 9 in these boots) and the zipper tab broke on one of my boots. So far, so good.
Durashock doesn't mean comfortable. Boots are loose and don't conform to the foot at all. After 5 months it feels like I have two bricks tied to the bottom of my feet. I have to buy a new pair of boots before these even wear out!
Great comfort!!! looks professional. easy on and off with no hastle. only problem i have is after about 6 months the bottom soles of the boot start to wear and come apart and need replacing after a year of service- i've retired 3 pairs already but for some reason i keep going back to them mainly for the comfort!
HAD THESE BOOTS FOR 2 YEARS. THEY MADE IT THROUGH THE POLICE ACADEMY AND MANY 12 HOUR SHIFTS. FIXING TO ORDER ANOTHER PAIR (DUE TO SCRATCHES)WORKED IN CORRECTIONS FOR 4 YRS. BEST BOOTS I HAVE EVER OWNED!
I have had these for over a year and are still holding up great. The price is great for a good pair of boots that last over a year with daily use!
