I personally bought and shot this plate in order to test its ballistic capabilities. This plate stopped two .40 S&W 180 grain FMJ round cold and they were trapped in the titanium under the rubberized coating. Although it says for trauma protection only it did stop factory ,40 S&W at approximately 1000 FPS. I was impressed. I also shot the Point Blank steel Trauma Plate 8 x 10 and it was only able to stop .380 Ball and Buckshot. 9mm, .40 SW and .45 ACP all went straight through. As a side note if you use a steel plate in your vest make sure you put a soft plate behind it in your vest because the metal pushed through the thin steel plates is very sharp and jagged and could actually cut your vest material like a knife as the round exits.
