Training for AEDs:
These devices are designed to be used by anyone with minimal training (one study even showed that 6th graders successfully used some AEDs). Even so, it is always helpful to take a CPR/AED training course. Familiarizing yourself with the machine before you must use it will help cut down the time it takes to deliver a shock, and it will help you understand the vital role of defibrillation in the Chain of Survival. It is extremely simple to use an AED when the need strikes - the machine's combination of explanatory graphics, directions, and oral instructions guide the responder easily through the process.
Training is one of the most critical factors for a successful AED program.
Galls has partnered with Medic First Aid International Inc., headquartered in Eugene, Oregon and has tailored a Basic CPR/First Aid course specifically designed for law enforcement that includes an awareness segment on using an AED. National training is provided by an extensive network of MEDIC FIRST AID Instructors who are located around the country. Upon arrival at your site, these instructors will provide a variety of CPR, AED, and emergency care training classes. An AED supplement course can be combined with the Basic course to create a complete CPR/AED/First Aid training curriculum. The basic course with AED training can be completed in as little as five hours. Please call 1-800-477-7766 for more information on the course and how to order.
