I've been wearing boots for 27+ years....these are quite probably the best I've ever worn. No breakin need and very comfortable. Warm and water tight. What more could I ask for?!

Amazing Boots!
Wow. These boots have to be the most amazing boots I have ever worn. Not only do they give great support and feel, but they do not hurt your feet or ankles after wearing them for extended periods of time. The GX-8's almost feel like an extension of my feet. Highly recommended.

Mostly true as advertised...
A very comfortable boot and a very fast break in period. However, when wet, these boots will cause you to slide all over indoor flooring. That aside, a great pair of boots!

Initial impressions
Just got these boots, so my comments are only about the "just out of the box" impressions. First, these boots run big. They are the first Bates product I have owned, so I don't know if this is true of Bates usually. I typically wear a size 9-9.5, and I had to go down to a 8.5, then add an insole to take up some volume. Comfort out of the box is pretty good, but the Magnums I have owned have all been more comfortable on day one. Construction quality seems okay, but we'll see in a few months.

Amazing Grip
These are the z-rated tires of boots. They grip the ground like no other boot I've ever worn. Comfortable, stable, supportive, and they keep your feet dry. I love them.

Great boots that are worth every cent
These boots are great! The best ones so far. Very light weight which is ideal for wearing 10-12 hours every day. I lace them so I don't use the zipper. In Arizona, our weather temp goes from below zero to over 110. These are the best so far at a great price also. Haven't been in much water or snow yet but I'm sure they'll perform as stated.

Good Boots
Just a little stiff when you first get them. But after the break in period very comfortable. The Gore-tex is great, lets your feet breath. I only buy Bates because of the great price and quality. Great for duty work.

When they say waterproof, they mean it! Very comfortable boots right from the start, break in very quickly. Received 8 inches of snow 2 days after getting these, they work! No wet feet!

Great boots!
I normally have a hard time find footwear that is comfortable for my feet, but these boots were no problem. They are a great fit and highly comfortable. The zipper is great for getting them off quickly when I have to get into my bunkers for a call.

As of 09-19-07 in Connecticut the weather is not too cold. I love the boots but they are hot. Making them a less than ideal candidate for the summer months. But can't wait for the winter with them.

I've had these boots for 2 years. They are comfortable and very durable. Finally wore out the heels. I feel as though I got my money's worth out of them considering I work in law enforcement and military reserve with a minimum of 48 hours per week. Ordering a new pair now!

I've had these boots about 4 months now. If these boots have one problem it's that they scuff easily. A little tight the first few days but once the leather stretches they fit great. They are the lightest boots I've ever owned.

Have had these for 6 months now. Only complaint is my feet hurt after hours of standing. After replacing the paper thin insoles, no more hurting! My feet don't sweat, and they stay dry in rain! I'll buy these again for sure!!

Great Boot
I have worn these boots everyday for about 18 months. They are very comfortable, and keep your feet warm and dry. I will be ordering another pair soon because the pair I have now have gotten too many scuffs on them and won't take a good polish, but will keep them for off days.

Great choice for corrections officers

I stand in water, walk in mud, dirt, gravel, climb ladders and numerous other tough jobs. I wear these boots up to 14 hours a day and never get tired or wet feet.

The first pair of boots I got were the SP365 and they were good but they were really wide on me. Then I got these and so far I don't regret paying $119.99. These fit, they're water proof, the zipper helps out a lot, and they're very comfortable.

Excellent Boot
Great product. I wear a 13 x-wide and these really seem to work size wise. My only suggestion would be to put more sole-padding (for us who work 12+ hour shifts on concrete). Would definitely buy again. Leather polishes nicely.

These are by far the most comfortable boots I've purchased. Great price also!! I was a little concerned at first by the price, but they are great!! I'm on my feet about 18 hours a day and wouldn't wear another boot.

I have worn them, here in the snow, wet, ice. They are waterproof (aka goretex). It does take awhile to break the boots (maybe since I am flat-footed) but all-in-all very good, but looking its "made in China".

Bought two pairs, that's how much I trust these
Spent three years in the Army 101st Airborne and wearing the regular old combat boots or the Jungle Boots. I have worn these boots for three months and can already tell they are a great fit and keep ya dry. The only down side is they are a little warm for all season use but I will wear them anyway, just make sure the polish hasn't been soaked into the fabrics of the boot.

Simply Awesome
I have owned 3 pairs of these boots. They are warm and keep your feet dry. They are very comfortable and with my job I am on my feet all day. My only complaint is the tread has been worn down on the 2 other pair after about a year of use. I work at an airport and walking in Jet fuel and deice fluid both take their toll on rubber.

Killer Boots
I bought these boots in the fall of '07. Very comfortable right out of the box and provide GREAT protection from water/snow, and now that the weather is starting to warm, have not been too hot either. They have held up great after 7 months of 10+ hour daily use. Durable, comfortable, decent price. These boots are highly recommended.
