I'm a radio field engineer. I'm on call 24/7. All (13) of my sites are in remote areas and the worse the weather, the more likely I'll be called to go. After about 6 months I've really learned how to use this bag for MY needs. First aid-multitool-cord-energy bar-rain poncho-knife-batteries-pocket AM/FM-ammo and mags for both my EDC's-jerky -Water purification straw-collapsible bottle-fishing kit-flashlights-sunglasses/glasses-Spaceblanket- mirror-compass-pens/markers/paper-tape-plastic bags-matches-Tylenol-dry socks- old watch that still works- carabeeners... The list goes on and changes weekly but I find myself constantly glad I've got my "bug out bag". I've found myself stuck in the mud in a pasture at midnight before and you never know what might save you or at least make you more comfortable!!
