SMD fits hat sizes 6-7/8" - 7-3/8"Large/Extra Large fits hat sizes 7-1/2" - 7-3/4"
I bought an XL. I wear a 7 1/2 hat. This hat does not even come down to my ears. It is very lightweight and rides up. Its basically a winter Yakama.
Good price and warm. Only negative aspect it is just slightly short. Even with the L/XL my ear lobes are not covered by the cap.
Purchased this item in L/XL. I am size 7-3/4 to 7-7/8, 24.5" circumference. Pulled all the way down, coverage is from just above the eyebrows, about 1" down from the top of the ears, and 1/2" down from the point at the rear of the skull. Does not cover earholes or restrict hearing. Fits snugly, but not tight, with no floppy point at the top. Basically fits like a do-rag or skull cap. Well made and warm. Not scratchy, easy to forget you have it on other than that you are warm. Logo is also black and basically invisible. Perfect for my needs, but if you want something that pulls down over your ears for very cold weather, this isn't it.
Very warm. I've been on multiple accident scenes as a volunteer in cold and rain and this cap has kept me dry up top. Only complaint is sizing could be a shot in the dark for some people. Mine was a little small, although still a great cap.
The quality of this fleece cap is very good however the sizing for it was poorly done. I ordered the L/XL one first and it was way too loose, so I returned it and ordered the S/M one and it fit well but didn't hardly cover my head. So if you do have a very small head or very large head it will probably fit really well but if you have an average size head it will be hard to find a good fit for you.
The day I received the hat, family and I went to state fair in Dallas. The weather was cold and rainy. I was actually surprised the hat kept me dry. I knew I would be warm, but not dry. I was shocked I wasn't wet .This product is well worth the price plus more.
As a Sheriff's Deputy, I had worked an accident on I-10 in 20 degree weather, with freezing rain falling. After 2 1/2 hours of being out in the weather, I took my 5.11 fleece watch cap off for the first time. I was shocked to find that the outside of the cap was completely soaked, but the inside was dry and warm. This cap took everything that a the elements could throw at it and never let me down, it kept my head dry and warm throughout the entire time. I will gladly recommend this cap to anyone looking for a good winter watch cap.
