5.11 Tactical ATAC Shield Men's 8 inch Composite Toe Zipper Boot features:
Composite toe are comfortable and work. They saved the toes on my right foot, anything less and I'd of had bigger problems. Comfortable and safe! Ordering a replacement pair now.
It's difficult to find a good looking safety toe boot with side zippers. I'm a firefighter and when the tone drops having a zipper feature in a boot makes getting out of them much faster than dealing with laces. Getting them off is not too bad, but I have to unzip and unlace them to get them back on. The wedge of material behind the zipper in not wide enough at the top to get the boot back on without unzipping and unlacing them.
An excellent safety boot that's immediately comfortable straight from the box with no "breaking in" required. Have worn these consistently for the past 5 years doing security work. I wouldn't recommend them for a general patrol boot or anything requiring high dexterity and maneuverability. The safety toe and other features make it a bit too large and "clunky" I'd they're not specifically required for your work environment.
I have had the same pair of these boots for over 3 years now with no problem with wear and tear. I wear these boots every day for work, and they are holding up well. Other boots that I have used in the past have always had to be replaced after a year of use, but these boots are still going strong. I will definitely order these again when the time comes.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY! I’ve bought boots in the past that were pretty decent. I have to say this boot has failed me. I was expecting a comfortable boot for the price I paid. I've been wearing this boot for about 3 months now waiting for the boot to kind of break in! Well it broke in, and it still KILLS my FEET! Walking on this cement all day every day. Sorry but the boot has failed. It may look good but comfort is not THERE!!!!!Refund if it was Possible!!!!!
These boots are great! I ordered the mid width and the size I was wearing in my old (Magnum) Boots and these apparently run thin so I had to exchange them I went 1/2 size bigger and got the wide width and I'm very happy with these! broke in in a day or two and are very comfortable.
The prone position they (5.11) is referring to is your front side of your body laying on the ground and elbows supporting your upper body like a bipod. The grips
/groves on the toe of the outter sole and other grip features on that same plain around the boot, help grip the surface you are laying on as you push your body with your feet in the direction you want to move.
I really love this boot, I've been wearing them for over a year now and have had no problems. They are comfortable and pretty hardy. When it comes time to buy a new pair (which doesn't seem like its going to be too soon) I will definitely be repeating this purchase.
very happy with experience. Items ordered on a Sunday and arrived on Tuesday. These boots shine up nicely and are very comfortable right out of the box.
The ordering magazine of Galls Summer 2013 states that this 8" boot under 3H-FW139 has a polishable toe,And bloodborne pathogen resistant lining. Yet, the website doesn't state that????? Other than that they Have the great side Zipper,Waterproof antibacterial Drilez Lining, and especially the Composite toe protection. And an almost complete leather around the top portion of the boot. With exemption of the rear top rim of the boot. All these attribute's should do the job for me.And Which works for me. Let's see if the are comfortable also.
loved them at first, i did not know about the prone position in the sole. this ruined the boot. caused excessive foot pain after a few months wearing. i wish 5.11 could make in a neutral position. other than this issue they are great boots
I am on my 4th pair of these boots. I wear these boots almost every day and am not easy on them. They are comfortable from the 1st day I put them on out of the box. There is no break in period. I tried another brand of boot one time that was comparable but, I ended up ordering the 5.11 boot after a short time of very sore feet from the other brand of boot.
